Why sp_ce exists

sp_ce was created in 2011 with the specific intent to support leaders seeking leadership excellence, not a status.  Those who believe leadership to be a pursuit of mastery with impact.  Founded by Ashraf Dashlooty, who for over 31 years has been supporting leaders to perform in moments that matter.  We are now a small and dedicated team that still gets excited in finding improved ways to support and challenge leaders and the teams they lead.

How we see leadership development

Leadership does not fail because of a lack of information.

It requires:

  • disciplined application,
  • feedback rooted in reality

The story behind

We know you are wondering about our name, as it is one of the most common questions we receive.

The name sp_ce (most importantly the missing letter) stems from a conversation had with a senior leader over 20 years ago.  This senior leader was part of global gold company and had been so for a long time.  He was well regarded for the performance of his team and the culture they created.

At one point in our conversation, he shared a throw a comment that he shared with his team of managers, “… if I don’t see you with your feet up on your desk, staring out the window for a few moments a day, you don’t have your day organised well enough.”

Apart from that image being mildly entertaining, and the initial response of shock that most people have when they picture that of their team or workplace, the underlying lesson is such a powerful principle, great leaders create space in their days.  Space for deep thinking, not just doing, no just reacting.

As a constant reminder of the wisdom shared, we created a “space in space”.

sp_ce exists to support leaders as they develop, not to impress them.

This is not a one size- approach.

We work alongside leaders and leadership teams to strengthen how decisions are made, how behaviour shows up under load, and how alignment is sustained over time.

Accordingly, our work appears through different developmental pathways — from deep, bespoke individual journeys to leadership development in live organisational settings — always grounded in the same philosophy of applied leadership practice.
